My precious baby boy was born on Oct 20, 1993. Dylan was my healthiest child through his whole child hood. We moved home to Ohio in Aug 2004 from Florida to be close to family again. In January 2006 we started doctoring for sore throats and constant colds. The doc decided we should have Dylans tonsiles removed. So, in May,2006 we went to Childrens and had the surgery. Dylan never felt real good after that. He was always tired, losing weight, and complaining about leg cramps. We changed doctors after alot of testing with no results. Our new doctor decided to run a few of the blood tests over again. This is where our nightmare began. We had a whole family weekend planned (fathers day weekend), Kings Island on Saturday then The Beach waterpark on Sunday. Well, we woke up on Saturday and Dylan was not feeling well, but of course he would not give up the trip to Kings Island! We were mid way through our day of riding a few rides and Dylan was getting very tired and cranky. We decided we would take a break for lunch. This is when I recieved the phone call from the doctor telling us to get Dylan to Childrens Hospital in Dayton asap! It was either a serious blood infection or luekemia! We reported to the hospital and they admitted Dylan. We tried for a 2nd opinion, but the results were definately luekemia (AML M5)! What a fathers day! The docs said 5 rounds of chemo and hopefully everything would be fine again. We stayed in the hospital 3 weeks, then home 1 week, then back to the hospital for another round of 3 weeks, then home for 1 week again 5 times! After the first round of chemo, Dylan was in remission!! We were so excited! We thought we had this monster beat! Dylan flew right through all 5 rounds of chemo with no ICU visits, and very few problems! He finished his final round of chemo on Friday and by Sunday he was not feeling well. His blood pressure started falling and he was running a temp. So, for precautions the docs decided to send us down to ICU. Dylan was such a fighter and always with a smile on his face! He would give his nurses and docs such a rough time all in fun! He was always a happy young man no matter how he felt! He praised the Lord every day for all the blessings in his life! "Sweet dreams, no bad ones, say your prayers" he would tell us everynight at bedtime when we tucked him in! We were in the ICU unit with many up and downs for 3 months. Then Jesus decided that Dylan was getting tired and it was time to come Home. Dylan made a difference in alot of our lives! He was such an inspiration!! He will live on forever in our hearts and we will have our memories with him until it is our time to see him again! God Bless!!
